CATCH*22
with Kevin

Steph: State your name and what you do in the band.
Kevin:
I am Kevin, and I sing and play trumpet.

Steph: What would you be doing if you weren't in the band?
Kevin:
Probably something like music related as far as like to the industry. I just recently started up my own booking agency. I book the River City Rebels and I'm just gonna start booking Big D and the Kids Table I just found out today. So, just like a little small company. So, I guess the question should be What Am I Doing Other Than The Band.
*laughs* It's like Jeopardy. I'll tell you the answer and then I'll tell you the question.

Steph: Did you see Montys Fan Club at that show back in June?
Kevin:
Yeah yeah yeah! I know those guys.
Steph: What did you think of them?
Kevin: I think they're cool. I like them a lot.

Steph: If there was one song, by any band, that means the most to you, which would it be, and why?
Kevin:
Kind of a tough question for me to answer, honestly, because I love music and I love the oral sensation of music and I love listening but I'm not one of those people that gets wrapped up in sentimental things about songs, you know what I mean.
Steph: Like it isn't really about the lyrics…
Kevin: Yeah. It's not that I don't appreciate the lyrics and I can't get into it, but I'm not very sentimental when it comes to songs. If that makes any sense.

Steph: Who's your favorite band to tour with?
Kevin:
Probably the Suicide Machines, we went on tour with them twice… and they're great guys, really fun, we're really close with those guys, and their show's always good, and that's basically it.

Steph: What are your thoughts on argyle socks?
Kevin:
Uh… no thoughts really.
Steph: You don't think they're cool?
Kevin: I don't think they're cool but I don't think they're not cool.
Steph: I have Paul Frank argyle socks.
Kevin: Those are nice.
Steph: Argyle socks are cool.
Kevin: Yeah. I think they make my feet smell.

Steph: What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you?
Kevin:
Probably like, band-wise, the most embarrassing thing is when I fell off the stage… we played with Home Grown in Lanchester and there was a barrier so I jumped in between the barrier and I went like… out to the barrier… it was a really big gap… I didn't realize how big the gap was… so I went to jump back… like from the barrier to the stage… I just busted my ass. Not only did it hurt, but it was embarrassing… and it hurt bad… so it was really crappy.

Steph: What would you do if you were walking down the street and you came across an explosive camel reading a book about your mother?
Kevin:
I don't know, I'd probably be scared. I'd probably wake up.
Steph: Would you wanna read the book?
Kevin: Uh… yeah. I don't read much though.
Steph: It would be about your mother though… It might be a little bit interesting…
Kevin: No, it'd be interesting probably… I think I would wake up because I would definitely be dreaming.

Steph: Well then, what would you do if you were walking down the street and you came across a radioactive llama dancing a tango with your mother?
Kevin:
Uh… I'd be scared.
Steph: Would you wanna save your mother? …Because he is radioactive after all.
Kevin: Sure. But so is a microwave.

Steph: What would you do if you were walking down the street and Martha Stewart came up to you and said "What's the dilly yo"?
Kevin:
Uhhhh… I don't know. I'd probably be interested in what's going on in her life ya know, how she's handeling the whole uh… scandal. I'd probably ask her if she's scared.
Steph: Would you want any secret recipes or anything?
Kevin: Um… no. I think she's actually kind of annoying.
Steph: I think she is too…
*Kevin laughs*
Jess: *yelling*
Hey! That guy's wearing a Catch22 shirt!

Steph: If you were a piñata, what shape would you be, and what would you be filled with?
Kevin:
Well, piñatas are filled with candy, aren't they?
Steph: Well, what if you didn't HAVE to be filled with candy?
Kevin: Then I'd be filled with uh… gold watches.
Steph: Then what would you be shaped as?
Kevin: Uh… as a… a donkey.
Steph: A donkey? Could the donkey be wearing a sombrero?
Kevin: Yeah, sure.

Steph: Who do you think was the best band that played at Skatefest today?
Kevin:
Us.
Jess: Liar.
*We laugh*
Steph:
Any other bands?
Kevin: I like Yellowcard cause we just played a couple shows with those guys and I like Mest too. Those are our tour buddies. And we have lots of other bands here that we're friends with too like uh, Taking Back Sunday and The Reunion Show.

Steph: You inherit 5 million dollars the same day aliens land and say they are going to blow up the earth… How old are you?
Kevin:
22

Steph: If I were to take your shoes, throw them across a vacant lot, run over, pick them up, look inside at the tag, what size would it say?
Kevin:
13

Jess: What's your eye visions?
Kevin:
I don't know. I think like.. uh.. I don't know. I really don't know. 20 something.

Jess: How long have you been playing that thing? (she's referring to his trumpet necklace…meaning 'how long have you been playing the trumpet')
Kevin:
Um… for 6 year… no… 10 years.
Jess: A guy we asked has been playing the drums since he was 2 supposedly.
Kevin: Who was that?
Jess: LP from Yellowcard.
Kevin: Oooh… that's a lie.
Jess: Yeah.
Kevin: LP is a liar.

Steph: When does your new cd come out?
Kevin:
Probably around March. We're not really sure yet…

Jess: When are you touring?
Kevin:
January.
Steph: With who?
Kevin: I don't know.
Steph: Who do you WANT to tour with?
Kevin: I don't know.
Steph: Any Drive-Thru records bands?
Kevin: Possibly…
Steph: You should let Fake ID play the show down here.
Kevin: Maybe…
Steph: And Montys Fan Club.
Kevin: I like Montys Fan club.
Jess: Roxi Monoxide!
Steph: Yeah, Roxi Monoxide too.

Steph: Am I weird?
Kevin:
Yes.
Steph: How so?
Kevin: You ask weird questions.
Steph: Thank you.

Jess: How am I weird?
Kevin:
I don't know. I don't wanna say.

Steph: Any last comments?
Kevin:
Thanks for doing the interview.
Steph: No no.. thank YOU.
