For those who might not know, tell us your name & what you do in the band.
Chris sorenson and I'm the bass player aka a failed guitar player.

There's somewhat of a debate amongst your fans surrounding the pronunciation of the band name. Why the change, if any?
It doesn't matter how you say it, as long as you give it a listen. Soysin, saucesen, shushin, say ocean soasin. We don't carem.

What's a typical day in the life of your band on tour/off tour?
A shower, and a walk through a crappy mall and a sit down dinner, at like chilis. Sounds exciting. We have done a lot of fun things on days of, but TYPICALLY days off are drive days so you're sitting in a hotel parking lot in like joplin, missuorri or butte, montana. So we try to make the most.

You've teamed up with Hurley to allow fans to watch you record demos in the studio -- what's it like to allow your fans to be somewhat a part of the process?
Well, we were recording our actualy RECORD at hurley, not just DEMOS. And we just want to break the silence on how records are made. Before I started recording I was always curious about the process. I think the two most important things people can get out of watching us, is ONE, there is a lot of NOTHING going on sometimes. And TWO, from that NOTHING things can appear from virtually thin air and songs can form and everything can start to make sense.

With your EP due to be released October 14th, how will it compare to the full-length album you're planning to release next year?
Well the EP is just demos from the upcoming full length, we had some unforseen circumstances involving the making of the record and before we knew it , we had to get on tour. We have always tried to release demo versions of songs were working on to get some feedback or just to remind people were still around. Our fans, I would like to think, have a personal investment in our evolution as artists and so we try to keep them involved through as much as we can.


What is a band you've been listening to a lot lately that you think your fans should check out? [promo time!].
Ha the newest SIGUR ROS, med sud I eyrum...,is beautiful, the NEW Underoath is really cool. Not really much else that's NEW that I'm really non-stop about.



What are some must-have items that you bring on tour?
The obvious toothbrush etc. I also love having apple tv on the road, you don't need a ton of DVDs. And a rice cooker, we make rice almost everynight and have invented a rice sauce, easily titled "sao-sauce"

What are your favourite cities to play on tour?
I really like montreal, cuz its a european feel but close to home, and I like poutine. I also like seattle, and we've played a lot of vacation destinations, like bali, hawaii and sydney.

What do you think of fans that travel everywhere to see you guys live? Is it flattering, weird, etc?
They aren't creepy, they're pretty normal and they treat us with respect, I think we've made it pretty obvious that were not untouchables and we enjoy what we do and all the things that might entail. ... and they keep our teeth rotten, we get a lot of sweets and baked goods! Keep them cupcakes comin' !

Out of all the places you've been on tour -- what's one of the most random places/objects you've come across?
Durian fruit, french canadians, emu birds, australian terminologies. Have a root?



What's your favourite classic Disney movie?
Snow white, the dwarves are creepy, mirror on the wall, the queen dressed as an old hag, the movie is so dark. I'm just trying to find the secret animations in snow white. Like the boner in little mermaid and the SEX cloud in lion king. HOW TWISTED!

If you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be & why?
Dang, this question sucks! There are so many choices and why. But I guess RIGHT NOW, I'd have to go with the ryan adams- love is hell. His song/lyrics and character really hit me GOOD. Its half appreciation for his talent, half me pretending to be him when ever the record comes on.

If you were a pinata, what shape would you be & what would you be filled with?
I'd be a sea urchin , I can't imagine it would be very easy to break and when the blind folded whiney kid that HAD to be first up to bat, that shit will swing back towards him and hit him like some gnarly medieval wrecking ball. I'd be filled with yogurt, kids would be so bummed on that.

What plans do you have after your tour with Underoath?
Finish our record in dec. And jan. Then get back on the road and see if people like it! Were pumped on how its coming out
