Sherwood
with Dan Koch

Stephanie: State your name and what yo udo in the band:
Dan:
My name is Dan Koch and I play guitar, sing backups and write songs.

Stephanie:: Where did the name Sherwood originate from?
Dan
: Originally, Joe and I were going to start a side project, kind of serious kind of joking, called Sherwood where we would write a record that went along to Disney's Robin Hood much in the same way that Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the oon allegedly goes along with The Wizard of Oz. Then our real band had to change names (it had been "A Long Story Short") and we just picked up Sherwood.

Stephanie: In orange juice -- do you prefer pulp or no pulp?
Dan:
*chuckling* I actually dig the real stuff like at the health food stores, which is like mega pulp; but if I'm going Minute Maid or something, I always go for the one marked "Most Pulp"
Stephanie: Shannon would love you. She's in charge of our 'pulp poll' and she adores pulp.

Stephanie: If you were a piñata, what shape would you be, and what would you be filled with?
Dan:
Wow, I really have no idea about this one; i have no frame of reference.
Stephanie: Pick any random things at all. ha
Dan: Well, it's not like I even come from a culture that is very supportive of pinatas...just the occasional swing at the birthday party....I suppose i could make a really bad humanitarian aid joke and say i would be shaped like a food crate and be full of whole grains.

Stephanie: What's the cheesiest cd you have in your collection?
Dan:
Hmmmm....well my first three cds (all purchased on the same day from elementary school chum Mark Ball) were C+C Music Factory, the Fresh Prince of Bell Air and DJ Jazzy Jeff, and MC Hammer (2 Legit to Quit) -- If I have since surpassed their cheesiness, i have not been aware of it.

Stephanie: If you could cover any 80s song, which would it be?
Dan:
I think I would want to do "Just Like Heaven" by the Cure, but lots of bands do that song and I don't think we could do it justice. But man is it an awesome song.

Stephanie: What upcoming plans does the band have for the future?
Dan:
Right now we are focused primarily on playing as much as possible and writing the best music we can.

Stephanie: Awesome, any last comments?
Dan:
Everyone make www.thehungersite.com their internet homepage (you can give food to hungry people for free just by clicking), and I guess also maybe listen to our songs,(purevolume.com/sherwood) and if you like it, email us and get involved. And thanks for the interview also, Stephanie.
